Trip Description - Mount Kailash Overland Tour

Mount Kailash Overland Tour is a famous travel route to visit the birthplace of Lord Shiva in Tibet. Kangri Rinpoche or Mount Kailash (6714 m) is located in the Tibetan province of China and is a major attraction for travelers and pilgrims. The four founders of Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Bonpo are believed to have some connection with Mount Kailash. Hindus consider it to be the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Buddhists consider it a place of meditation for the Buddha. The Jains believe that their first saint attained salvation and freedom by meditating on its summit, and Bon claims Mount Kailash as the birthplace of its founder.

Therefore, pilgrims from all four religions consider Mount Kailash / Kangri to be a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual and religiously worthy of visiting a sacred place. For Hindus, the arduous journey to Kailash is to be freed from the clutches of ignorance and sin. But, for Buddhist followers, the journey to Mount Kailash is a self-fulfilling journey to attain enlightenment and world peace. Making a hole or walking or prostrating at least once in a mountain range is considered the most sacred act of the Tibetans.

Along with Mount Kailash, Tibet is home to another sacred site, Manasarovar Lake or Mapam Yumtso Lake, one of the highest wetland areas in the world. There is another equally spectacular wetland called Rakshas Lake, which literally translates into Demon Lake. Pilgrims often worship these lakes, drink their water and bathe. Bathing in the lake is believed to bring salvation and salvation from sin. Both of these lakes in Tibet support a wide variety of flora and fauna.

Please contact us at Jagadamba Holidays Private Limited to book your next visit to this wonderful holy land. We live in Thamel, Kathmandu and arrange all the tour logistics, from visa processing to tour planning. Here is our proposed itinerary with a definite departure date for this year.

Special Note:

If you are traveling with a group of 25 people, don’t worry, we will operate according to the itinerary with your chosen dates and customizations. Websites for Nepal Trekking and Climbing mention group size here so it is not related to Kailash so please ignore this group size. Minimum group size for Kailash tour operation should be 25 people in a group as we need a minimum 25 people to get a Kailash tour permit. The quoted price is also based on it. Given price will be changed any time if TTB increases the price in future.

Tibet and Kailash tour operators of Kathmandu have agreed to form a single group if the travel date is the same and the booking is less than 25 people. We offer different brands but in Tibet, China they form the same group which is the main reason. Our main aim is to make traveling easy and provide quality service. Indian and Nepalese tour operators can’t do anything in Tibet because the Chinese are different from the rest of the world, so it’s best to go on a trip with the idea that we’re only going to visit Lord Shiva’s birth place. Also keep in mind that we are only going to touch Mount Kailash. Don’t expect any luxury during the Kailash Yatra.

Hopefully, Tibet border will be open from 1st April 2023 for foreigner and Indian pilgrims.

Accommodation offered during the trip

The accommodation we use may vary depending on our package travel and the range of travel destinations. Before or after the trip you can book comfortable hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara for your stay. If you book a tea house trekking trip, we will provide a small two-bed room for sharing in the hill lodges which is a basic facility but very clean.

Now, better-equipped lodges are also available in Annapurna and Everest areas but we recommend trekkers to use accommodation above 3500 meters where clean rooms and clean food are readily available. Sometimes a level of flexibility may be required when trekking in remote mountain areas. We believe that you will complete your vacation without any problems and have the trip of a lifetime. If you book camping/trekking, our camping team will manage a comfortable camping site by the river where possible.

There will usually be a dedicated support team on the trip to move luggage and equipment, set up camp, and prepare your food. You will find more detailed information about travel accommodation which is mentioned separately in the lodging section of each vacation package page.

However, you can expect excellent service and high quality in any budget range you choose. You can learn more about different types of travel and their features and the proposed travel price by contacting us directly where we will be very pleased to answer your questions. We always try to choose comfortable accommodation with local character reflecting the best value based on twin share accommodation.

When you book a trip, unless you request a private single room, we will arrange for you to share a twin bed room with a person of the same gender. If you request a private single room, you will need to pay a single room supplementary fee. Please note that during the trek, if the destination is 4000 meters above sea level, only dormitory accommodation with private beds will be available. On trekking trips we try our best but do not promise guaranteed room options. For most of our camping trips, we supply branded two-person tents, including groundsheets.

Mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, service plates, bowls, and all necessities are provided. Members of the mountaineering travel group are requested to manage according to the options given on the website. During the Kailash Yatra in Tibet we will arrange twin share or dormitory room.
