Gokarna Pokharel
Gokarna Prasad Pokharel (GP) embarked on his journey in Nepal’s tourism industry in 1985, initially serving as a trekking porter. With two years of valuable experience, he earned a promotion to the position of Kitchen Head. In 1989, seizing a new opportunity, GP embraced the role of a trekking guide at a different agency, expanding his responsibilities.
Notably, prior to 1998, all trekking activities were organized as camping treks due to the absence of lodges in Annapurna, Langtang, and Everest regions during that period. Hailing from the Dolakha district in the Bagmati province of Nepal, GP has led trekking groups in the western Dolpa and eastern Kanchenjunga regions. However, his preferred area of expertise is the Everest region.
GP currently operates as a trekking guide in Nepal, holding a trekking guide license issued by the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Nepal. His official trekking guide’s license number is 2327.
