Trip Description - Lower Dolpo Trek

Lower Dolpo Trek is situated in Dolpa district of western Nepal in high-altitude land. Most of the trekking destinations of the Dolpo region lie in Shey Phoksundo National Park. It is known as Dolpo in Tibetan language and Dhol-wa in the local dialect which is connected to the rest of Nepal via Juphal airport. The Dolpali are generally followers of Bon, a religion whose origins predate Buddhism but whose modern form is officially accepted as a fifth school of Tibetan Buddhism. The time mentioned in the itinerary is exclusive of break time.

Upper Dolpo Trek covers most of the geography part of the area of the Dolpa District, but most of the people are concentrated in the lower southern parts. Lower Dolpo Trek known also as the name of Phoksundo Lake Trek, which is one of the wonderful treks which give you an opportunity to observe part of the so far little known middle -west Dolpo region of Nepal. After these high passes you will get to the Shey Phoksundo National Park and admire the beauty and transparency of the bluish water of Phoksundo Lake. The walking time during the trek is just a guideline to prepare yourself and it varies from person to person.

We will stay at Himalayan Hotel in Ringmo which is run by Mr. Nima Lama. This hotel is located near by Phoksundo Lake. You have to walk just a minute to reach at lake. The finest hotel of the Ringmo village which hotel have facilities of Wi-Fi and hot shower.
Day 13 Stay At Ringmo – Explore the Phoksundo Lake, visit the famous Bon Gompa
Day 14 Trekking - Shyanta (2,520 m) – 7½hr
Day 15 Trekking - Juphal (2475m) – 6½hr
Day 16 Fly (7-8AM) Jhupal - Kathmandu via Nepalgunj by connecting flight

Kathmandu – Before three hour of flight time, transfer to airport to return to home.

Accommodation offered during the trip

The accommodation we use may vary depending on our package travel and the range of travel destinations. Before or after the trip you can book comfortable hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara for your stay. If you book a tea house trekking trip, we will provide a small two-bed room for sharing in the hill lodges which is a basic facility but very clean.

Now, better-equipped lodges are also available in Annapurna and Everest areas but we recommend trekkers to use accommodation above 3500 meters where clean rooms and clean food are readily available. Sometimes a level of flexibility may be required when trekking in remote mountain areas. We believe that you will complete your vacation without any problems and have the trip of a lifetime. If you book camping/trekking, our camping team will manage a comfortable camping site by the river where possible.

There will usually be a dedicated support team on the trip to move luggage and equipment, set up camp, and prepare your food. You will find more detailed information about travel accommodation which is mentioned separately in the lodging section of each vacation package page.

However, you can expect excellent service and high quality in any budget range you choose. When you book a trip, unless you request a private single room, we will arrange for you to share a twin bed room with a person of the same gender. If you request a private single room, you will need to pay a single room supplementary fee. Please note that during the trek, if the destination is 4000 meters above sea level, only dormitory accommodation with private beds will be available. On trekking trips we try our best but do not promise guaranteed room options. For most of our camping trips, we supply branded two-person tents, including groundsheets.

Mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, service plates, bowls, and all necessities are provided. Members of the mountaineering travel group are requested to manage according to the options given on the website.
