Kanchenjunga Base Camp

from 1 USD

The Kanchenjunga base camp is also the longest trek in Nepal. It forces hikers to spend a night at the foot of the world’s third highest mountain. So far, this is the only trekking proposed by Jagdamba Holidays Private Limited in Eastern Nepal. The trekking route to Kanchenjunga Base Camp is less crowded than other trekking routes in Nepal.

It is the third highest mountain on earth and also the most easterly eight-thousanders. The summit of Mount Kanchenjunga lies in the border between Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim.. The Kanchenjunga protected area belongs to the “Restricted Areas” in Nepal. One needs a special trekking permit, individual trekking is not allowed! The trek is very demanding, the lodges simple – a counter design to the comfort trek and therefore only suitable for experienced trekkers/Nepal lovers with good physical condition. Only recently it is possible to get almost to Kanchenjunga Base Camp without a tent. Only in the Base Camp we spend the night twice in the tent.

Trip Description - Kanchenjunga Base Camp

A trek to Kanchenjunga Base Camp will show us one of the most remote areas in Nepal. The journey starts from Kathmandu which is the capital of the Himalayan state “Nepal“, where you will explore and explore the city in your spare time in anticipation of your ascent. From here, we can find the world’s third-highest mountain, Kanchenjunga (8,590 meters). he Kanchenjunga mountain peak is located on the border between Nepal and India. We will be able to visit the two base camps of Mount Kanchenjunga located to the north and south of the mountain. Kanchenjunga Base Camp is also known as Pangpema Base Camp Trek as well as Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. The Kanchenjunga base camp is also the longest trek in Nepal. Kanchenjunga is a protected area of Nepal. Trekkers need a special trekking permit, Kanchenjunga does not have individual or single trekking permits. The trekkers who is looking for comfort trekking area is not advisable. This trek is only suitable for experienced trekkers and Nepal adventure lovers with good physical condition.

It forces hikers to spend a night at the foot of the world’s third highest mountain. So far, this is the only trekking proposed by Jagadamba Holidays Private Limited in Eastern Nepal. The trekking route to Kanchenjunga base camp is less crowded than other trekking routes in Nepal. We believe, if trekkers like solitude in rhododendrons and fir forests, they will love this trek. Trekkers will walk on the cliffs to see the panoramic view of Chamlang, Mera, Makalu and Kanchenjunga mountains. The 8,586 m high mountain Kanchenjunga or Kangchendzönga is located in the east of Nepal in Taplejung district.

The first part of the tour leads us to the northern base camp in Pangpema. We then cross the two passes Selele La (4480 m) and Sinion La (4646 m), continue to the Yalung Glacier and the southern base camp below the southwest face of Kanchenjunga. The reward for sacrificing luxury during trek: an unadulterated impression of rural life in East Nepal, which is relatively infrequent. Southern Base Camp is also known as Oktang Base Camp.

The accommodation we use may vary depending on our package travel and the range of travel destinations. Before or after the trip you can book comfortable hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara for your stay. If you book a tea house trekking trip, we will provide a small two-bed room for sharing in the hill lodges which is a basic facility but very clean.

Now, better-equipped lodges are also available in Annapurna and Everest areas but we recommend trekkers to use accommodation above 3,500 meters where clean rooms and clean food are readily available. Sometimes a level of flexibility may be required when trekking in remote mountain areas. We believe that you will complete your vacation without any problems and have the trip of a lifetime. If you book camping/trekking, our camping team will manage a comfortable camping site by the river where possible.

There will usually be a dedicated support team on the trip to move luggage and equipment, set up camp, and prepare your food. You will find more detailed information about travel accommodation which is mentioned separately in the lodging section of each vacation package page.

However, you can expect excellent service and high quality in any budget range you choose. You can learn more about different types of travel and their features and the proposed travel price by contacting us directly where we will be very pleased to answer your questions. We always try to choose comfortable accommodation with local character reflecting the best value based on twin share accommodation.

When you book a trip, unless you request a private single room, we will arrange for you to share a twin bed room with a person of the same gender. If you request a private single room, you will need to pay a single room supplementary fee. Please note that during the trek, if the destination is 4000 meters above sea level, only dormitory accommodation with private beds will be available. On trekking trips we try our best but do not promise guaranteed room options. For most of our camping trips, we supply branded two-person tents, including groundsheets.

Mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, service plates, bowls, and all necessities are provided. Members of the mountaineering travel group are requested to manage according to the options given on the website.
