This is a journey designed to self explore Trek to the Sacred Lakes of Gosainkunda. The Gosaikunda lake is also an alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake in the Langtang National Park of Nepal, located at an altitude of 13.8 hectares (34 acres) at an altitude of 4,380 meters in Rasuwa district. The lake melts and becomes the Trishuli River; in winter season the lake will be frozen or ice for six months from October to June. If you want to avoid the congestion of famous trekking routes like Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit, this trek is the best option. The trek is a short distance from the famous Eight-Thousand, in a less grand landscape.

Trip Description - Gosaikunda Lake Trek

Gosaikunda Lake Trek itinerary is designed to moderate trekkers. The journey starts from Kathmandu which is the capital of the Himalayan state “Nepal“, where you will explore and explore the city in your spare time in anticipation of your ascent. Trek to the Sacred Lakes of Gosaikunda starts from Bharkhu and ends at Dhunche. The Gosaikunda lake is also an alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake in the Langtang National Park of Nepal. It is located at an altitude of 13.8 hectares (34 acres) at an altitude of 4,380 meters in Rasuwa district. The lake melts and becomes the Trishuli River; in the winter season the lake will be frozen or ice for six months from October to June.

The trek is a short distance from the famous Eight-Thousand, in a less grand landscape. We walk through the terrace of Helambu and reach Gosaikunda Lake through the rhododendron forest. Most of the time we small villages cross their monasteries and chortens and enjoy the magnificent view of the highest mountain. It is the main destination for thousands of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, visiting in their thousands every year. The unique costumes and traditional stone houses reflect their culture and lifestyle. Most trekking routes pass through semi-tropical forests. Most of the area covers the ground and the orchids cling to tree trunks. Crossing the sacred lake of Gosaikunda we reach Laurebina La (4,620 m). There is a majority of Tamang community in this area. Partially protected as Langtang National Park, the area offers nature walking experiences and knowledge of the cultural traditions of the Tamangs.

  1. Day 1 Kathmandu Arrival Day: Arrive anytime!

    Upon arrival in Nepal, Jagadamba Holidays representatives will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport with a Jagadamba Holidays placard (Jagadamba Holidays signboard). In case of late night arrival, private transportation to the hotel will be arranged by the representative. Clients will be notified of tour briefings and group meeting times by a representative.

    In the meeting we discuss the travel plans and services and introduce the trek or tour guide as per the itinerary. You must completely fill up a legally binding travel form and a non-liability disclaimer form. If any person’s tour payment is due, such person must pay at this meeting. Stay overnight at Kathmandu Guest House in Thamel.

  2. Day 2 Kathmandu - Bharku (1,860 m) transfer by private vehicle

    We depart Kathmandu early on the seven-hour journey to Bharkhu. As it exits the Kathmandu Valley, the road climbs the cliffs and offers panoramic views of the Annapurna Himalayas to the west, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the Langtang peaks ahead. We travel through the bustling town of Trishuli before heading towards Dhunche and Langtang National Park. After Dhunche town it is another half hour to Bharkhu and your lodge for the night. On our journey today, we pass several brides and finally we cross Dhunche Bazar to enter Bharkhu. You should check into the hotel on arrival in Bharkhu. After an hour of free time you should meet your guide in the hotel lobby and discuss with him the activities for this evening and the schedule for tomorrow.

  3. Day 3 Trekking - Thulo Syabru (2,210 m)

  5. Day 5 Trekking - Laurebina (3,910 m)

    Walking time : 4½ Hours

  7. Day 7 Trekking - Cholangpati (3,600 m)

  8. Day 8 Trekking - Dhunche (1,960 m)

  9. Day 9 Drive to Kathmandu (1,350 m) by private vehicle

    Drive time   6½ Hours. Suggested use bus instead of jeep. AC bus is more comfort.

  10. Day 10 Departure from Nepal: Depart anytime!

    After breakfast, you should leave your room and store your luggage at the hotel and relax in the hotel lobby or explore the surrounding local market for last minute shopping for friends and family until you head to the airport for your flight back home.

    Due to limited space at Kathmandu Airport, all airlines have requested to report at the check-in counter three hours before the actual flight departure time. Therefore, we will pick you up from the hotel three and a half hours in advance, as the estimated travel time to the airport is around half an hour.

Accommodation offered during the trip

The accommodation we use may vary depending on our package travel and the range of travel destinations. Before or after the trip you can book comfortable hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara for your stay. If you book a tea house trekking trip, we will provide a small two-bed room for sharing in the hill lodges which is a basic facility but very clean.

Now, better-equipped lodges are also available in Annapurna and Everest areas but we recommend trekkers to use accommodation above 3,500 meters where clean rooms and clean food are readily available. Sometimes a level of flexibility may be required when trekking in remote mountain areas. We believe that you will complete your vacation without any problems and have the trip of a lifetime. If you book camping/trekking, our camping team will manage a comfortable camping site by the river where possible.

There will usually be a dedicated support team on the trip to move luggage and equipment, set up camp, and prepare your food. You will find more detailed information about travel accommodation which is mentioned separately in the lodging section of each vacation package page.

However, you can expect excellent service and high quality in any budget range you choose. We always try to choose comfortable accommodation with local character reflecting the best value based on twin share accommodation.

When you book a trip, unless you request a private single room, we will arrange for you to share a twin bed room with a person of the same gender. If you request a private single room, you will need to pay a single room supplementary fee. Please note that during the trek, if the destination is 4000 meters above sea level, only dormitory accommodation with private beds will be available. On trekking trips we try our best but do not promise guaranteed room options. For most of our camping trips, we supply branded two-person tents, including groundsheets.

Mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, service plates, bowls, and all necessities are provided. Members of the mountaineering travel group are requested to manage according to the options given on the website.
