Trip Description - Annapurna Sanctuary Trek

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a high glacier located 40 km north of Pokhara. This elliptical plateau is more than 4,000 meters high, and is surrounded by mountains. The Annapurna range, most of which is over 7,000 meters. The Annapurna Sanctuary has high mountains all around, so it gets only 7 hours of sunshine in summer. The unique combination of height and depth in the 7-9 day trek to Annapurna Sanctuary on a sunny day gives birth to an ecosystem of extraordinary diversity.

The slopes to the south are covered with dense tropical forests of rhododendrons and bamboo. While the slopes to the north are in the shade of rain with dry cold weather like the nearby Tibetan plateau. The entire sanctuary was considered sacred to the Gurungs, one of the many locals who settled in the area and believed that these gold and snakes were various treasures left by the snake gods known in India. The sanctuary was considered the home of many gods, including Hinduism and Buddhism, as well as the ancient animist deities. The fishing pole at the entrance was considered to be the house of Lord Shiva and the daily snowdrop was considered to be the smoke of his divine incense.

Until now, the local Gurung community has banned bringing eggs or meat to the Annapurna Sanctuary, and women and untouchables have also been banned. Panoramic view of Annapurna Sanctuary can be seen from Annapurna Base Camp. In recent years, the number of visitors to the sanctuary has increased significantly, as the sanctuary forms the basis of major routes to reach the Annapurna range peaks. The Annapurna Sanctuary is now part of the Annapurna Conservation Area project, which bans the number of travelers, to firewood collection and grazing of pets.

Accommodation offered during the trip

The accommodation we use may vary depending on our package travel and the range of travel destinations. Before or after the trip you can book comfortable hotels in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara for your stay. If you book a tea house trekking trip, we will provide a small two-bed room for sharing in the hill lodges which is a basic facility but very clean.

Now, better-equipped lodges are also available in Annapurna and Everest areas but we recommend trekkers to use accommodation above 3500 meters where clean rooms and clean food are readily available. Sometimes a level of flexibility may be required when trekking in remote mountain areas. We believe that you will complete your vacation without any problems and have the trip of a lifetime. If you book camping/trekking, our camping team will manage a comfortable camping site by the river where possible.

There will usually be a dedicated support team on the trip to move luggage and equipment, set up camp, and prepare your food. You will find more detailed information about travel accommodation which is mentioned separately in the lodging section of each vacation package page.

However, you can expect excellent service and high quality in any budget range you choose. You can learn more about different types of travel and their features and the proposed travel price by contacting us directly where we will be very pleased to answer your questions. We always try to choose comfortable accommodation with local character reflecting the best value based on twin share accommodation.

When you book a trip, unless you request a private single room, we will arrange for you to share a twin bed room with a person of the same gender. If you request a private single room, you will need to pay a single room supplementary fee. Please note that during the trek, if the destination is 4000 meters above sea level, only dormitory accommodation with private beds will be available. On trekking trips we try our best but do not promise guaranteed room options. For most of our camping trips, we supply branded two-person tents, including groundsheets.

Mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, service plates, bowls, and all necessities are provided. Members of the mountaineering travel group are requested to manage according to the options given on the website.
