Mt. Kailash Helicopter Tour

Since it takes 7 days to reach the border of Tibet from Simikot, helicopter tours of Kailash and Lake Mansarovar are very popular now. Mount Kang Rinpoche or Mount Kailash (6714 m) is located in the Chinese province of Tibet. The Himalayas are part of the Great Himalayan Range and are considered to be the source of water for four major rivers of Asia: Yarlung Sangpo, Karnali, Indus and Sutlej. The never-before-climbed peak is made of snow and rock and is unique with four faces at the top. The lake known as Mapum Yumtso Lake or Manasarovar between Kangri Himal and Gurla Mandata (7728 m) is located at an altitude of 4590 m above sea level. Spread over an area of 320 square kilometers, the lake has a depth of 90 meters. The lake supports rich biodiversity, including rare plants, fish, mammals and birds.

Both Kang (Kailash) and Mapum (Manasarovar) have special religious significance among the followers of Bon, Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. For Bon followers, Kang Rinpoche is the pillar of the universe and a sacred place where Guru Rinpoche is said to have attained enlightenment. Kang Rinpoche is considered by Buddhists to be the center of the Buddha’s meditation. Similarly, Hindus consider Kailash to be the abode of Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati, while Jains believe that their first saint, Rishabh Hantha, was liberated after meditating on the mountain.

Every year, thousands of pilgrims and tourists come to Tibet to see these two natural sites. The philosophy of Kailash and Manasarovar allows the devotees to attain Moksha or Moksha and remove one of the sins. Hindus also believe that drowning in Manasarovar Lake (Mapam Yumtso) is the sure way to heaven. Tibetan Buddhists have a long tradition of circling Mount Kang Rinpoche as an ascetic and final sacrifice to attain enlightenment. If you are traveling with a group of 25 people, don’t worry, we will operate according to the itinerary with your chosen dates and customizations. Websites for Nepal Trekking and Climbing mention group size here so it is not related to Kailash so please ignore this group size. Minimum group size for Kailash tour operation should be 25 people in a group as we need a minimum 25 people to get a Kailash tour permit. The quoted price is also based on it. Given price will be changed any time if TTB increases the price in future.

Tibet and Kailash tour operators of Kathmandu have agreed to form a single group if the travel date is the same and the booking is less than 25 people. We offer different brands but in Tibet, China they form the same group which is the main reason. Our main aim is to make traveling easy and provide quality service. Indian and Nepalese tour operators can’t do anything in Tibet because the Chinese are different from the rest of the world, so it’s best to go on a trip with the idea that we’re only going to visit Lord Shiva’s birth place. Also keep in mind that we are only going to touch Mount Kailash. Don’t expect any luxury during the Kailash Yatra.
