Travel Seasons:
A Ritu is called a season in accordance with the traditional Hindu calendar, used in Nepal. There are six seasons or Ritu in Nepal: First Vasant (spring season); second Grishma (summer season); third Varsha (rainy or monsoon season); forth Sharad (autumn season); fifth Hemant (pre-winter season); and sixth Shishir (winter season), and it is a part of a year. According to meteorologists, scientists who study the weather, divide each of the seasons into three whole months. The 1st spring season begins on March 1, 2nd summer season on June 1, 3rd autumn season on September 1, and 4th winter season on December 1, although most areas of the Earth have four seasons in a year especially in the Western world as mentioned above. 1) Vasant Ritu or Spring Season :
Vasant Ritu or Spring season in Nepal spans into two months – Chaitra and Baishakh as per Nepalese calendar and as per English calendar from mid-March to mid-May. It comes right after the winter season called Shishir Ritu and at this time new buds are grown in trees and flowers bloom. In spring season the temperature is just right – neither too cold nor too hot. This season is windy as well. One of the most attractive aspects of this season is the blooming of Laliguras, which is also the National Flower of Nepal.

2) Grishma Ritu or Summer Season :
Grishma Ritu or the summer season in Nepal spans two months – Jeshtha and Aashadh as per Nepalese calendar and as per English calendar from mid-May to mid-July. This season has mostly the hottest weather. The flowers fall down and fruits grow in trees, and it is the best season to grow crops as well. Mainly in this season farmers plant paddy, and other summer crops. One of the most attractive aspects of this season is eating summer fruits like mangoes and wild berries.

3) Varsha Ritu or Rainy Season :
Varsha Ritu, the rainy season in Nepal, starts in Shrawan and ends in Bhadra as per Nepalese calendar and as per English calendar from mid-July to mid-September. During this season, frequent and extensive rainy days may be seen. The rain provides irrigation to agricultural crops and recharges groundwater. Some roads may be muddy, bridges may be damaged, and travel may be disrupted during rainy season. One of the most attractive aspects of this season is the paddy plantations. The farmers make working in the field fun by singing, dancing, and playing with mud.

4) Sharad Ritu or Autumn Season :
Sharad Ritu or autumn season in Nepal as per Nepalese calendar starts in Ashwin and ends in Kartik, and as per English calendar from mid-September to mid-November. This is the season of festivals in Nepal because we mostly celebrate major festivals in this season. Most farmers have free time and they are waiting to harvest crops in the next season. The temperature is slowly going down in this season, therefore, it is the right time for the celebration. Some of the most attractive aspects of this season are major festivals such as Teej, Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath.

5) Hemant Ritu or Pre-winter Season :
Hemant Ritu or pre-winter season in Nepal as per Nepalese calendar starts in Mangsir and ends in Poush, and as per English calendar from mid-November to mid-January. This season is the time of working again for farmers because the crop harvesting is done in Hemant season. After enjoying Sharad Ritu farmers get busy themselves in agriculture fields. The temperature starts to fall down rapidly, and people are preparing themselves for the winter as well.

6) Shishir Ritu or Winter Season :
Shishir Ritu or winter season in Nepal as per Nepalese calendar starts in Magh and ends in Falgun and as per English calendar from mid-January to mid-March. This season is one of the coldest seasons of the year. Cold season starts at the end of Hemant and ends by the beginning of Vasant. The snow falls in areas of high elevation, and people of lower elevation are experiencing cold waves.

Oktang Base Camp

The Kanchenjunga base camp is also the longest trek in Nepal. It forces hikers to spend a night at the foot of the world’s third highest mountain. Tsho Rolpa Lake Trek

Tsho Rolpa Lake is a famous lake in Eastern Nepal in the area of Mount Everest and Rolwaling Valley.
